José Rubio Vela

Head of the Support Unit of the Directorate General for International Trade and Investment

José Rubio Vela is currently Head of the Support Unit of the Directorate General for International Trade and Investment. He is a career civil servant in the Corps of Commercial Technicians and State Economists. He holds a degree in Law and Business Administration and Management from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas (Madrid). He holds a Master's degree in Public Management from the Instituto de Estudios Fiscales and the Escuela de Organización Industrial and has completed the Leadership Programme for Public Management at IESE Business School.

He has also served as Director General of Economy and Competitiveness of the Community of Madrid and as advisor in the offices of the Secretary of State for Trade and the Secretary of State for Economy and Business Support. Previously, he was Deputy Assistant Director of the Studies and Reports Department of the Comisión Nacional de Mercados y la Competencia (CNMC).
