The Fondo de Carbono para la Empresa Española (FC2E), promoted by the Instituto de Crédito Oficial and the Santander Group, is the first mixed capital Carbon Credit Fund to be managed in Spain. FC2E was created to help Spanish companies comply with greenhouse gas emissions regulations during the 2008-2012 compliance period.
To achieve this objective, the Fondo de Carbono para la Empresa Española supports clean projects carried out in emerging countries under the mechanisms established in the Kyoto Protocol, i.e., the Clean Development Mechanism (CDM) and Joint Implementation (JI) by buying the carbon credits generated by these projects (CERs and ERUs).
